Serie A against the commissioner in the FIGC in place of Malagò: "Inappropriate, it would throw football into chaos"

Tomorrow, Tuesday 6 October, will be a decisive day for the future of Italian football. The Coni National Executive Board must rule on the proposal to place the Figc under administration following the alleged ineligibility of the already elected federation president Giovanni Malagò.

Backing the former Coni number one on Monday, Lega Serie A issued an official statement in defence of Malagò.

  • Serie A dissociate themselves

"The Serie A League dissociates itself and distances itself from the apparent legal dispute, the legal basis and political reasons for which it does not understand."

  • Complete support for Malagò

"Giovanni Malagò, Serie A's leading candidate, was elected by a wide margin and continues to enjoy the league's full support"

  • A totally inappropriate commissioner

"While respecting the principles and rules of the Federation and CONI, the Lega Calcio Serie A considers the appointment of a commissioner entirely inappropriate, not least because it could throw football into chaos at an extremely delicate moment"
