The German team manager Tonda Eckert has been given a six-week suspended ban and fined around €33,000 over his role in the "Spygate" scandal involving Southampton FC.

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert has avoided an immediate touchline ban after the Football Association handed him a suspended six-week ban and a £28,000 fine for his involvement in the Spygate scandal. This punishment follows the club's earlier expulsion from the Championship play-offs and a four-point deduction for secretly filming opposition training sessions throughout the previous campaign.

Former Juventus, Southampton, and Italy striker Dani Osvaldo has been admitted to intensive care in Argentina after developing a serious pulmonary condition. The 40-year-old retired footballer was urgently taken to hospital on Thursday night after days of severe chest pain, with medical staff confirming a diagnosis of right-side pleural effusion.

Southampton are bracing for a fresh legal battle this week as coach Tonda Eckert faces a Football Association misconduct hearing following the explosive Spygate scandal. The club is already reeling from historic sanctions that cost them a shot at the Premier League, but the governing body could yet impose further penalties on the individuals involved.
